A lovely and collectible book, as are all the books in the Lakeside Classic series, this book entitled “Buckskin and Blanket Days” by Thomas Henry Tibbles are his memoirs of his youth until about 1890. As a youngster, his family moved from Ohio to Kansas and he became an associate of John Brown. Later in life, after living among them, he became an advocate for the Indians and helped to stop the reservation system. It covers subjects such as abolition and the Civil War era, the western Indians, and Wounded Knee.
Published for Christmas 1985, this book has brown cloth covered boards and is decorated with a gilt R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company – The Lakeside Press stamp on the front cover. The end binding is also gilt stamped with the name of the book, “Buckskin and Blanket Days” , the author’s name Tibbles, and The Lakeside Press. Page tops are also gilt.
The book is in near fine condition, with all pages clean and intact.
