The books of the Lakeside Classics series not only beautifully bound and perfect for home décor, they are wonderful first person narratives of our American history.
This book, entitled “Westward Journeys: Memoirs of Jesse A. Applegate and Lavinia Honeyman Porter Who Traveled the Overland Trail” was published by R.R. Donnelley for Christmas 1989.
The book has brown cloth covered boards and is decorated with a gilt R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company – The Lakeside Press stamp on the front cover. The end binding is also gilt stamped with the name of the book, “Westward Journeys” , the authors’ name Applegate * Porter” and The Lakeside Press. Page tops are also gilt.
The book is in near mint / fine condition, with all pages clean and intact and retaining the original plastic wrapping. The 2nd photo shows a close up of a hole in the plastic wrap with some clouding – I can’t tell if the clouding is on the plastic or if it is on the book cover and the price reflects this possible defect. Book is sold AS IS.
