This charming vintage quilt is beautiful with age and filled with memories of a time when feed sack companies made their bags with delightful prints so that women could reuse the fabric for clothing and quilts.
Strips of 1 ˝” squares form the design. It looks to be machine quilted and there is no batting – nice for warmer weather! The edge of the quilt is a sawtooth, where the squares end in points. The backing is also made of feed sacks and there are places where some of the feed print is still faintly visible, a quaint reminder of the Depression years.
The printed fabric is slightly faded but strong. The stitching is neat and I’ve found no breaks. The backing fabric does have a few darker areas – mostly the print that is still slightly visible, but there are also some pieces of fabric that are just a different tone.
This quilt is “as found”. It appears to be clean – I’ve not washed it.
Measurements are 84” x 94”.
Perfect for today’s romantic décor … and just so pretty in a shabby chic setting, too!
