This nice, tall old 2-piece cupboard was once built-in, in a previous life. Now, it's been given a new life with the addition of a new crown molding, new wood trim features, new decorative metal accents, and a coat of shabby paint.
The inner surfaces retain the original old finish, most visible on the beadboard back, a nice contract to the darker finish outside. The original old glass remains in the cupboard doors and the hardware is likely original. Neither of the latches are functional but even on our uneven floors here at our shop (built in the 1880s) they fit nicely and do not require latching.
The shelves are fully adjustable with slots for adjustment every inch or so. Two board shelves in the original finish are included and there are two extra shelf brace pieces, should you wish to add a third shelf. Three of the total six braces have the original finish. There is evidence that, at one time, strips of wood were attached to the shelves as plate rails, which could be easily replaced.
There are three drawers across the front with original decorative metal pulls and below that is an open shelf area and a solid cupboard door that hides 2 more removable shelves.
Four new metal decorative pieces have been added at the corners of all the open areas.
An interesting and most convenient feature is that the cupboard is in two pieces. The top separates directly above the three drawers, for ease of transport.
This is a large country cupboard with lots of great storage and display areas. Great for newer country or primitive interior designs.
(There is a good angled photo of this cabinet used in the description of another item that actually shows this cupboard very nicely! - Please see the last photo in this group - it is the cupboard BEHIND the chimney cabinet.)
