A wonderful old antique tin litho advertising item, this is a New Simplicity needle case containing many tubes of unused sewing machine needles, for treadle sewing machines.
Not nearly as prevalent as the Boye needle display cases, this New Simplicity display case probably once resided in a general store. The front gives instructions to the clerk on how to choose the correct needles and inside the lid is a chart showing a list of interchangeable needles. Handy!
Out of 128 original tubes, 81 remain; 4 tubes are empty. Not all the writing on the tops of the needle tubes is still legible (see the tops of the tube in the photo below), but there are markings on a lot of the tubes that might help in identifying the needle. The number of needles inside each tube have not been individually verified, but it seems there are likely 2 needles in each tube.
Condition is VERY GOOD +. There is a small amount of rust on edges and a corner and some on the back and a few scrapes to the paint. The needle chart on the inside lid is excellent.
Measures 11 5/8" x 7 5/8" and 2 1/2" high.
