This fabulous antique book measures 4" x 6" and is made of crepe paper and tied with silk threads through two punch holes. These little books were translated from the original Japanese by B.H. Chamberlain in the late 19th century.
It features the most beautiful woodblock print artwork on each page, that looks like watercolor.
The story is about a brave Japanese warrior who saves a dwarf from a giant centipede and takes the name "My Lord Bag-O'-Rice" from one of the gifts bestowed upon him by the grateful dwarf. A Japanese fable.
The condition of this book is excellent. Hardly any foxing or staining. One page has a slight dog-ear but, I think, due to the nature of the paper will eventually return to its normal flat position with no true crease.
